Huerta Red is a non-heading red leaf with a frilly leaf margin, high leaf count and high resistance to internal tip-burn. The frame size is larger than Red Tide, having better bolting and tip burn resistance than most red leafs. Its leaf structure is slightly narrow with slightly longer leaf length and is extremely non-heading. The exterior green color resembles more of the Red Tide leaf color with slightly more savoyed leaf surface. The weight is also similar to that of Red Tide. This variety is adapted to all extreme hot growing areas, Salinas Valley, San Joaquin Valley and Yuma areas.
