Sunbelt is our new warm weather romaine. Along with its strong bolting
resistance and high tolerance to Tip Burn, we have managed to improve its
tolerance to Fringe Burn during warm windy days in the Salinas Valley. Sunbelt
exhibits a large frame with a 12” to 14” plant height. It is extremely non-
cupping at harvest. Sunbelt has a smooth mid and wide leaf petiole with a
straight tapered butt shape which makes for impressive pack at harvest.
Sunbelt has excellent hold-ability at a past optimum maturity, which could help
processors salad trade.
